Disconnect for Non-Payment
Bills for electric service are issued monthly. The bill is due and payable upon receipt. If not paid by the due date printed on the bill, a late payment charge of 1 1/2% will be added, a delinquent notice is sent and if the bill is not paid by the date on the notice, service will be subject for disconnection.

In the event a Cooperative representative is sent to your premises to make a disconnection for nonpayment, a collection fee of $100.00 shall be charged.

If your electric service is disconnected for nonpayment of your bill, you will be required to pay the reconnection fee and all charges for electric service. All services disconnected for non-payment will only be connected during IEC's normal business hours (Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm).

It is to every member's advantage, and greatly simplifies work if bills are paid on time. If, for some reason, a bill cannot be paid please contact the office by the due date to discuss payment arrangements.

You may request a Deferred Payment Agreement under which a portion of the bill will be temporarily deferred. By entering into such an agreement with the Cooperative, termination of your service can be avoided. This must be done on or before the disconnect date on your notice. To enter a deferred payment agreement, the following steps must be completed.

  1. You must come to the IEC office located two miles southeast of Cleveland on U.S. Highway 64.
  2. The individual responsible for the bill must sign an acceptable deferred payment agreement.

If you, or another occupant of your household is elderly, handicapped, or have a verifiable medical condition which is considered to be a life threatening situation, special procedures may be available.

You may be eligible for assistance in the payment of your utility bills from the Department of Human Services Office listed below. If you have applied and are awaiting financial assistance forma federal, state or social service agency you may request a 20 day delay.

WARNING!!
Reconnection of one's own service after it has been disconnected for any reason is a dangerous practice and is an illegal act. Oklahoma law makes any tampering with a meter, or attempting to divert electricity in any way, an illegal act that is punishable by a fine or imprisonment, or both. IEC prosecutes without exception all cases of tampering!
